If you have one or several cats, you will likely one day have to deal with cleaning up cat pee. Not the most pleasant thought, but stuff happens.
There are products out there that are made for just this particular duty. But if you read their reviews, you might find that there are always people who do not have any success with these products. So, is it the products or is it the way they work?
How do you really clean up cat urine to get rid of the smell?
Fresh cat pee can easily be cleaned up with white vinegar. It will neutralize the ammonia in the urea and get rid of the smell. You have to make sure you get every last drop of urine.
If however, you find out that your cat had an accident days later because of the smell, then you need to use a product that will attack the bacteria that have now colonized in that pee. You have to soak ALL affected areas with the enzyme solution for it to work successfully. Follow the instructions on whichever product you choose to the letter. You may have to apply several times per instructions. If the pee has gotten into the padding of your carpet, you will need to apply enough solution to reach that padding to attack the bacteria living there now. Once you open up the product, you have a very limited time to use the enzymes. They need to be alive to work.
