One of the natural litters that I like is Swheat Scoop Natural Wheat Cat Litter.
I am a big proponent for using natural clay-alternative litters. One big reason is that I am allergic to the clay litters. And I’ve heard horror stories of cats who’ve ingested clay litters. Not pretty.
My cats love the Swheat Scoop (well, as much as any cat can love his toilet), which is really important!
Swheat Scoop is made out of wheat, so it’s biodegradable and as good for the environment as cat poop and pee can get.
The bag says the litter is flushable, so that’s another plus.
The good points about this litter is that it has very little dust and it smells like wheat (haha! it actually has a slightly sweet scent to it)! It clumps hard enough and tracking isn’t too much of a problem. Odor control is average. Because the litter is light, a handheld vacuum can easily pick up any tracked litter.
This litter won’t break your back when you’re carrying it from the store and then when you are cleaning out the litter box every so often.
This litter does have some cons though. You need at least 3 inches of Swheat Scoop in your box for it to work well. If you have less, then the litter forms an almost claylike mush at the bottom of the pan. Not too fun to clean up . . .
