This is the CatGenie 120 Self-Washing Self-Flushing Cat Box.
It is a pretty neat contraption for cat owners.
As it says, it is self flushing and self washing.
With the Cat Genie, after you set it up, you will probably never have to touch it again. Except to refill granules or to replace them when they get old.
It’s got different settings you can use. You can set it to clean twice a day, once a day, or 10 minutes after your cat has gone. It has a cat sensor to let it know when a cat has used it. It also has a manual button that you can use whenever you want to clean it.
It takes about half an hour for it to go through the whole process. It chops up the poop, it washes the granules with its own detergent which contains anti-odor stuff. It then proceeds to blow dry itself and then it is ready for the next cat.
I think it’s a pretty neat litter box. Although I think it’s a bit expensive, it’s a good product for those who don’t want to scoop a litter box again.
And thinking about it, if you have this one, you can probably go away on vacation for a few days and not have to worry about getting a cat sitter. As long as you make sure to provide enough food and fresh water. I wouldn’t be gone for more than a few days though. Cats do get lonely.
One disadvantage to it is that you have to do some plumbing work to install it. Not complicated stuff, but you need a little bit of plumbing knowledge. What needs to be connected is a t connector – one split to the cat genie and the other split to the toilet (if the bathroom is where you want to keep it). You’ll need one for the water to come in and wash and another one for when it flushes the waste and what not away.
And also, if you have a small bathroom, it may not fit. Alternately, you can keep it in the kitchen, washroom, laundry room, or garage if it has a plumbing connection.
Talking about disadvantages, some people have reported that the cleaning process releases all the poop smell and makes it smell in their whole apartment. Others say there is no smell. So, who knows. It all depends on your cat and how bad his or her poop smells . . .
